About Us

Canoe Innovations was established in Seaford, Melbourne in 1997, but our experience dates back 43 years when we first began our passion for sprint canoeing and sprint kayaking in Hungary in 1970; and we are still going strong.

Our passion is not just to paddle a kayak or sprint a racing canoe, but to provide an innovative business that supplies the highest quality paddles and manufactures the finest detailed kayaks and outrigger canoes using the most advanced materials with vacuum bagged resin-infused methods.

Canoe Innovations are the Australian representative for the world-famous Bracsa paddles that stand as the no.1 choice for Olympic and world champion athletes as well as recreational paddlers. In addition, we are also one of the first companies to develop and design kayaks for PARACANOE since 2011 and we offer invaluable experience in coaching people with disabilities and paving the path for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Our mission is to provide a friendly and helpful service and to ensure that we continue to deliver the
highest quality products to our customers. We’re always here to help!!!

About Steve Vegh – Owner and founder of Canoe Innovations P/L

Also called ‘The Master’ because of my huge passion and experience in the industry, I have been paddling and racing around the world since I was 15. I built my first sprint racing canoe at the ‘Izzo Club’ in Hungary where I was a member from an early age. I have always been good with my hands and in my early years, I learnt all of my craftsmanship from my father and older brother and I continue to use these skills at present.

In my years of experience, I have achieved a number of Hungarian, Australian and international championships for different crafts; 60% of these achievements have been in sprint racing high kneeling canoes, and the rest are attributed to kayaks and outrigger canoes.

Some of my other achievements include winning 6 consecutive Australian championships in a double kayak with my wife and paddling 404km Murray marathon five times and winning the TK-2 relay open class three times. In addition to this, I am also a qualified coach and mentor for kayakers and outrigger canoes for both abled and disabled athletes.

As you can see, paddling is not just a passion of mine; it is both my business and my lifestyle and I love sharing it with people who love the sport as much as I do!

“Winners are not those who never fail, but those who never quit!”
